Meet Casey Van Der Merwe
Born to expatriate parents farming in Malawi during a transformative period in Southern Africa, Casey Van Der Merwe grew up in Zimbabwe before later making England her home.

Her accounting journey began in the rural seaside town of Kingsbridge, Devon, where she gained hands-on experience in a family-run accounting practice. There, Casey learned the fundamentals of bookkeeping, payroll, company incorporations, and end-of-year returns—skills that built her strong “grass roots” foundation in finance.

With over a decade of experience across industry and practice—including work with UK charities—Casey has handled everything from official invoices and immaculate ledgers to handwritten receipts and scribbled notes. She prides herself on creating effective, cohesive accounting systems tailored to the unique needs of each client, whether managing business accounts or preparing end-of-year returns for sole traders.

After taking what was meant to be a short career break to travel and work abroad, Casey’s adventures led her through Australia’s outback, where she worked harvests, mustered cattle and goats, and cooked for farm crews “in the middle of whoop whoop.” That journey turned into a new chapter—meeting her husband, starting a family, and eventually settling in Hopetoun, where life revolves around family, community, and the great outdoors.

Casey holds a Diploma with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and has completed seven of the thirteen papers with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Now, under the mentorship of Tracy, she has joyfully returned to the accounting world and continues to pursue her professional studies with passion and purpose.
